If you are the property owner and are not represented by a tax agent or consultant, you are allowed to reschedule your formal hearing one time without needing to explain why. Your request must be submitted in writing at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled formal hearing date, either by mail or through the online Help Center at help.bcad.org.
New hearing dates are usually set 5 to 30 days after the original date. If you ask to reschedule more than 30 days later, the Chairperson of the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) must approve it.
If you are a tax agent or consultant, you can ask to reschedule if you have a scheduling conflict with another appraisal district hearing. The request must be made before the hearing date. You must send:
- A written request,
- A copy of the other appraisal district's hearing notice to confirm the other CAD’s notice to appear was sent before the Bexar Appraisal Review Board’s notice was sent,
- And a copy of the postmarked envelope or email as proof of when you received that notice.
What Happens If I Miss My Formal Hearing?
If you miss your formal hearing and do not show up, your protest will be dismissed.
If it has been less than 4 days since your hearing and you had a good reason for not appearing, you may ask the ARB Chairperson for another hearing.
Requests must be made in writing. You can send your request:
-
By mail to:
Bexar Central Appraisal District
ATTN: ARB Chair
PO Box 830248
San Antonio, TX 78283-0248 -
Through the Help Center:
