If you missed your formal hearing to protest your property, and your request is received within four days of your scheduled formal hearing, you may still have an option.
Can a New Hearing be Set?
Possibly---if you have a good reason (good cause) for missing the hearing, you can submit a request for a new hearing through the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) Chair for review.
What is considered “good cause”?
“Good cause” means there was a valid reason you couldn’t make the hearing and is generally not something within the owner/agent’s control (for example: medical issues, emergency situations, etc.)
What do I need to submit?
Your written request must include:
- Your name, address, account number, and the date of your formal hearing
- An explanation as to the reason you missed the formal hearing
- Supporting documentation to justify your request (for example: medical documents, travel records, or other proof of your situation)
Where do I send my request?
You can mail or email your request to:
Chairperson of the ARB
Bexar Appraisal Revie Board
PO Box 830248
San Antonio, TX 78283
arbchair.admin@bcad.org
What happens next?
- The ARB Chair will review your request and supporting documentation
- A decision will be made based on the information provided
- The ARB Chair's final decision will be mailed to the address on file
Important Information:
- Please ensure your mailing address is up to date, as your decision letter will be sent by mail.
- Processing times may take longer during busy season. Approval is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the ARB Chair.
