If you missed the May 15 deadline to protest your property value, you may still have an option.
Can I still file a protest?
Yes---if you have a good reason (good cause) for missing the deadline, you can request a late protest review by the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) Chair.
What is considered “good cause”?
“Good cause” means there was a valid reason you couldn’t meet the deadline (for example: medical issues, emergency situations, etc.)
Important: Not receiving a notice does not qualify as good cause if your property value did not increase by $1,000 or more.
What do I need to submit?
Your written request must include:
- Why you missed the deadline (typically May 15th)
- Why you are protesting your property value
- Supporting evidence is required to justify your request (for example: medical documents, travel records, or other proof of your situation)
When is the deadline to request a late protest?
Your request must be received before July 20.
Where do I send my request?
You can mail or email your request to:
